Sculpted mechanical puzzle box & book of clues. Whilst solving, the player uncovers the truth about an unsolved murder case.

Puzzle Box

Through this project I was exploring storytelling forms and storytelling through objects, as well as experimenting with interactivity and puzzle solving in the reading action.

The puzzle box contains layers of narrative, and the reading order is controlled by a system of ‘keys’, such as the red reveal pictured bottom right and the allen key pictured bottom left, so certain parts of the story must be discovered before others can be revealed.

Book of Clues

Using erasure techniques on a vintage ‘Teach Yourself German’ book, I crafted a narrative about a mysterious murder case in a small German village. Extracts of text act as testimonials from different members of the community.
